Keith Bergelt is the CEO of Open Invention Network, a company to facilitate the evolution of the Linux open source platform through the acquisition and licensing of relevant patents to vendors, developers and users that form the Linux ecosystem. Prior to Open Invention Network, Mr. Bergelt served as President & CEO of two Hedge Funds, Paradox Capital and IPI, that were formed to unlock the considerable asset value of patents, trademarks and copyrights in middle market companies. Mr. Bergelt previously served as a senior advisor to the technology investment group at Texas Pacific Group and headed business development, intellectual property and licensing for the Kelso & Company portfolio company Cambridge Display Technology in the UK. In addition, he established and served as General Manager of the Strategic Intellectual Asset Management business unit at Motorola Corporation and served as Motorola's Director of Technology Strategy.

Herbert Blankesteijn is geboren in Utrecht, 1958 en opgegroeid in het omroepdorp Hilversum. Zijn aanvankelijke wetenschappelijke ambities waren na een studie natuurkunde grotendeels gedoofd. Zodoende begon hij in 1982 als freelance wetenschapsjournalist. Dat leidde tot activiteiten bij de schrijvende pers, radio en televisie. Zijn afkeer van computers, ontstaan door de verplichte cursussen programmeren aan de universiteit, sloeg om in hevige belangstelling toen het tijdperk van kant-en-klare software, multimedia, cd-rom en internet aanbrak. Hij manifesteerde zich sinds 1994 als: presentator, columnist en auteur. Herbert is inmiddels ict-verslaggever bij BNR Nieuwsradio, medewerker van het Financieele Dagblad, presentator van het de interactieve web-talkshow Gouden Bergen en auteur van de wekelijkse rubriek Techno in NRC Handelsblad. Hij schrijft columns in bladen als Computer!Totaal, Telecom Update en Grasduinen.

Sinds 2002 is Arthur actief betrokken bij het NL-talige OpenOffice.org project en sinds het najaar van 2004 is hij Co-lead van dit project. Daarnaast was Arthur in 2007 nauw betrokken bij de oprichting van de OpenDoc Society.

Henk van Cann heeft in de jaren '90 gewerkt aan - en in zijn eigen geo-IT-bedrijf Adogis, en onder de vlag van Wegener nv dat het bedrijf overnam in 1999.

Na een sabbathical periode is Van Cann in de Open community aan het werk gegaan. Zo organiseerde hij onlangs de derde jaarlijkse Joomladagen op rij. Hij is tevens voorzitter van de Stichting Professionalisering Open Source Toepassingen. Zakelijk is hij als oprichter/eigenaar actief met 2value bv: een automatiseringsbedrijf dat in een conglomeraat van zelfstandige Open Source Professionals en kleinere bedrijven grotere projecten aan neemt en het beste van twee werelden "Open" en "Gesloten" wil combineren.

Arnoud Engelfriet is ICT-jurist en octrooigemachtigde. Hij ontwikkelde en implementeerde het open source beleid van Philips en was van 2002-2009 secretaris van de Open Source Advisory Board binnen het bedrijf. Arnoud heeft tientallen artikelen en presentaties over open source beleid en juridische aspecten verzorgd. Hij publiceerde o.a. de eerste juridische analyse over GPLv3 naar Nederlands recht. Tom Karpowitz

Since 1989, Tom Karpowitz has held a variety of positions with Sun Microsystems. In his current role as Senior Staff Engineer in the Global Communities Technical Office, Tom’s responsibilities include the research and analysis of PC products and services in general and Microsoft's products in particular. His areas of expertise include system internals, PC interoperability, and systems and network design.

Tom is a 2005 team recipient of Sun’s Chairman’s Award for Innovation.

Prior to joining Sun, Tom worked as a software developer and systems designer for a number of high-technology startup companies in fields as diverse as 3D medical imaging, power supply testing, and automated fingerprint identification.

Tom earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. His interests include computer games, Chinese martial arts, soccer, basketball, homebrewing, woodworking, science fiction, and horse riding.

Geordie's experience with the computing industry- and the UNIX market specifically- has run the gamut from operating system development to systems administration to database design. Currently Geordie is a Senior Staff Engineer within the Global Communities Technical Office.

Geordie's main areas of interest and expertise include operating system/platform internals, architecture, systems programming, networking, software interoperability and performance analysis. His expertise spans the landscape of modern operating environments: including mainframe, mini-computer and personal computer systems.

Prior to joining Sun, Geordie held engineering positions in both the academic/research and commercial computing industries. Geordie graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology, where he majored in Computer Science.

Fabrice Mous is werkzaam als ICT-adviseur bij stichting ICTU, een organisatie die opdrachten uitvoert voor en met overheden op het gebied van ICT. Binnen ICTU wordt hij vanwege zijn expertise en kennis ingezet bij NOiV (Nederland Open in Verbinding), een programma dat overheden adviseert over het gebruik van open source software.

Fabrice heeft hij zijn wortels liggen in een aantal open source initiatieven. Zo bekleedt hij een bestuursfunctie voor de NLLGG (Nederlandse Linux GebruikersGroep Nederland). Fabrice studeerde Informatica en Informatiekunde aan de Haagse Hogeschool.

Cor Nouws is op meerdere plekken actief in de OpenOffice.org community. Met zijn bedrijf Nou&Off biedt hij expertise aan op het gebied van OpenOffice.org, in de vorm van zakelijke dienstverlening. Eerder vervulde hij functies in onder andere MsOffice-automation, techniek en office-management. Naast het werk zijn er fijne dingen te doen met het gezin en is er soms ruimte de hobby's klussen, zeilen, sporten en muziek. De volle agenda met zaak en community, laten op dit moment weinig ruimte over voor andere maatschappelijke taken.

He wrote a lot of articles on adapting OpenID in the Open Web. Next to OpenID is Chris a Ruby And Rails evangelist. Dit ICTU-programma is in het leven geroepen om het gebruik van open standaarden en open source software bij de (semi-) publieke overheid te versnellen. Hiervoor werkte Ineke Schop eveneens bij de ICTU, als programmamanager van EGEM - ingericht om e-government binnen gemeenten te faciliteren.

Voor ze zich aan ICTU verbond, bekleedde Ineke Schop meer dan vijftien jaar functies bij diverse gemeenten.

His career started with KPN Mobile, where he held several marketing and strategy development roles. In his last position, he developed and launched an award-winning consumer mobile service for the Dutch market.

Jan-Bart de Vreede was named Vice-chair of Wikimedia Foundation in January 2007. Jan-Bart joined Wikimedia Board in December 2006. Working at the Kennisnet Foundation allowed Jan-Bart to spend time on promoting the use of wiki software and Wikimedia projects in education, amongst other things. The Kennisnet Foundation is a publicly funded Dutch organisation. Within this organisation he is responsible for the educational portals and some content creation tools. Through his work at Kennisnet Ict op School, he has been involved with Wikimedia since 2004, and attended both Wikimania conferences as a speaker. Jan-Bart de Vreede spent most of his childhood in the Netherlands, also living in Sri Lanka, the Maldives, Kenya and the United States. He studied Business Administration at the Rotterdam School of Management.

Ruud is oprichter van het succesvolle IT-opleidingsbedrijf RedNose. In deze hoedanigheid heeft hij vele projecten geleid. Het gaat hier onder andere om projecten voor achterstandsgroepen zoals gehandicapten, ouderen, allochtonen en herintreders. Ruud heeft ruim 10 jaar ervaring als manager van technische en veranderkundige projecten in de (semi) publieke sector. De laatste jaren heeft Ruud zich sterk gemaakt voor het gebruik van open source, open standaarden en open innovatie. Sinds december 2007 is Ruud kwartiermaker van de opendocsociety. Sinds 2008 verzorgt hij seminars en workshops voor gemeentes over ODF. Ruud Is goed op de hoogte van vele open source oplossingen en is met name in staat om complexe problemen te vertalen naar behapbare vraagstukken.

Michael van Wetering

Michael W. van Wetering is currently employed as CTO (Chief Technology Officer) at Kennisnet. The Kennisnet foundation is the Internet organization for primary, secondary and professional education in the Netherlands. Its mission is to innovate learning using ICT and facilitate schools when integrating ICT in education.

Michael has a degree in Software Engineering at the Free University of Amsterdam.

He started at Kennisnet in 2002 as CTO, before that he was a senior ICT-consultant at Verdonck, Klooster & Associates (VKA), an independent consultancy agency active in strategic ICT projects, often in the public sector. Before that Michael worked at the ICT department of the Rotterdam School of Management as a developer for research and education, ITC-architect and later ICT-manager.

Brenno de Winter

Brenno de Winter started experimenting with security at the age of 9. He has a background in open source that dates back to 1993 and he contributed to several projects like MySQL, GnuPG, Gnucomo (Gnu Computer Monitoring) and recently started the Small Sister-project for privacy-friendly internet usage. In his daily job he practices security, teaches it and works as an IT-journalist. His writings have triggered several debates in parliament and often raises questions.
